Pattachitra is a traditional Indian art form that comes from the Sanskrit words ‘patta’ (cloth) and ‘chitra’ (picture). It began around the 12th century and is one of the oldest and most popular art styles still practiced today. Created by skilled artists called chitrakars, this art mainly features scenes from Hindu mythology. Common themes include the Jagannath Temple (Badhia), childhood stories of Lord Krishna (Krishna Lila), the ten forms of Lord Vishnu (Dasabatara Patti), and a unique five-headed form of Lord Ganesha (Panchamukhi). Each painting is full of detail, color, and cultural beauty.
